Prepare Form 1099-K for IRS Reporting

Before starting your Form 1099-K filing, it’s important to collect all the required information to prepare Form 1099-K.

Form 1099-K is used to report payments in settlement of reportable payment transactions of $600 or more each year.

What’s new for Form 1099-K?

Recently, the threshold for reporting payments from third party network transactions has been lowered to $600 or more in aggregate. This is much lower than prior years where the threshold was a total of $20,000 in aggregate payments and a total of 200 or more transactions.

Please note: the threshold change had been delayed in the past, so it could be delayed again. Check back here for more updates on this!

Another recent change is the switch to a continuous use form and instructions, which will be updated as needed instead of annually.
