IRS AIR Production Cutover Schedule Released for TY 2023

Today, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) published the yearly AIR Production cutover schedule for the Tax Year 2023 (Filing Season 2024). The temporary shutdown will impact all transmissions related to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), including corrections and replacements.

AIR Production Cutover Schedule

The shutdown for production will begin at at 7:00 am ET on December 11, 2023. AIR Production will resume on January 11, 2024. Updates on this will be made available on the AIR System Operational Status Page.

Concurrent with the AIR production cutover, the AIR Assurance Testing System (AATS) environment will also be shut down for scheduled maintenance from 7:00 am ET on December 11, 2023, until 5:00 pm ET on December 14, 2023

Submission for tax year 2022 or prior must be submitted and processed before the shutdown starts on December 11, 2023.

The release of the AIR production cutover schedule marks the onset of the filing season. We recommend gathering your ACA data and preparing your filing as soon as possible to ensure that you have plenty of time before the deadlines.

Proactive compliance can prevent filing penalties and help to avoid the receipt of IRS notices regarding ACA forms. This is crucial, especially given the rise in penalty amounts and tax regulation enforcement.

Be sure to check deadlines to stay prepared for the upcoming filing season:
