Today, the IRS announced the annual AIR Production cutover schedule for the Tax Year 2022/Filing Season 2023. This shutdown will affect all Affordable Care Act (ACA) transmissions, including corrections and replacements.
AIR Production Cutover Schedule
The system shutdown for production will begin on December 5, 2022 at 7:00 am ET. The start up date and time has yet to be released. An alert will be posted regarding this on the AIR System Operational Status Page.
During the AIR production cutover, the AIR Assurance Testing System (AATS) environment will also be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance from December 5, 2022 at 9:00 am ET until December 9, 2022 at 5:00 pm ET.
If you are planning on submitting filings for 2021 or prior, then these will need to processed before December 5, 2022.
Conclusion
With the announcement of the AIR production cutover schedule, comes the start of the filing season. We recommend getting started on gathering your ACA data and preparing for filing in the new year to ensure that you’re finished before the deadlines.
Keeping up with compliance efforts ahead of time will help filers to avoid filing penalties and IRS letters for ACA forms. This is incredibly important now more than ever, as fine amounts and tax enforcement are increasing.
